Welcome to Cameron ISD….YOE NATION!     Our mission at Cameron ISD begins with a basic, yet challenging, question; what do our children need to learn to be successful in life?  While the question may be simple, the answer is complex.  The educational community recognizes that the skills necessary for this generation of learners is constantly evolving.   For certain, the ever-changing technological advances and the shift in our economy now require student mastery of additional skills to be successful in their interdependent global society.

Creativity and Innovation, Communication, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking and Problem Solving are considered the 4C’s of the 21st century.   While these skills are not new, they are now necessary for one to obtain a high level of success.   The traditional 3R’s must be woven together with the 4C’s by technology literacy and operations that model technology tools used in today and tomorrow’s workplace.  Our classrooms must embrace technology and reduce the importance of pencil-paper task as the primary means of assessment.  I am very thankful Cameron ISD has a staff that is willing to change and adapt to meet the needs of our students.

While our district is small in student numbers, we are huge in student quality.  I believe students from Cameron ISD will go out into the world and see what is not there and will then create something new and amazing that will change our society.

Sincerely,

Collin Clark

Superintendent of Schools

George Willey
Assistant Superintendent

Dr. George Willey was named the Assistant Superintendent of Cameron ISD in April of 2009.  He has nineteen years of educational experience serving in elementary, middle school, high school, and alternative education settings in districts ranging from 2A to 5A in classification.  He has served as an administrator in three “Recognized” or “Exemplary” districts prior to moving to Cameron ISD in 2009.  Dr. Willey has eight years of experience as a high school administrator to include five years as a 5A high school principal.  He has also served as an instructor in the Region XII Principal Certification Program and as an adjunct professor for Northwestern State University in Louisiana.

In his current role, he provides leadership to the district’s curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems to ensure an increased level of student academic achievement.  Dr. Willey also provides oversight in these areas to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and policies.  It is his personal goal to see every child in Cameron ISD meet or exceed the level of academic achievement established by state and national standards.  He believes that the primary ingredient to prolonged academic success of students is providing them with a strong initial foundation through researched-based early childhood educational opportunities that focus on literacy, mathematics, science, and social skill development.

Dr. Willey has been a Rotarian for ten years and has previously been recognized by the Exchange Club for his service to students.  He has served on the Central Texas Communities in Schools Board of Directors and the Armed Services YMCA Board of Directors as well as worked to establish Young Life Ministries in schools in Central Texas.  Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Cameron Chamber of Commerce.  Rose, his wife, is also an educator and they have two children, Blake and Mary-Catherine.  The family attends Cameron United Methodist Church.
